18,000 candidates to retake UTME on August 6

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has released a full list of the highest-scoring candidates in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination from 2013 to 2024.

JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, made this known during a press briefing in Abuja on Wednesday.

While addressing the recent concerns about the high rate of failure in the 2025 UTME, Oloyede said the board was not surprised that the best result this year — 374 — was the highest recorded in more than a decade.

“In spite of the issues with this year’s UTME, we are not surprised that the top score is higher than any in the last 15 years,” he said.

Oloyede added that the list was released to show that excellence is still possible, and that the board will continue to encourage serious candidates to work hard.
