The Lagos State Government has announced that ACME Road in Ikeja will be closed to vehicular traffic on Saturday, May 10, 2025, to facilitate the All Progressives Congress Primaries scheduled to take place at the APC State Secretariat.
The announcement was made via a statement shared on the official X account of the Lagos State Government on Wednesday.
According to the statement, the closure is part of a broader effort to ensure security and effective traffic management during the political event.
“Ahead of the APC Primaries scheduled to hold at the APC State Secretariat at ACME Road, Ikeja on Saturday, 10th May, 2025, the Lagos State Government has issued a Traffic Advisory to aid free movement during the process.
Motorists will not be able to access ACME Road from Adeniyi Jones, Lateef Jakande, and ACME Crescent ends. The entire stretch of ACME Road will be closed off to vehicular movement during the primaries,” the statement read in part.
To reduce inconvenience and congestion, the government has recommended alternative routes for motorists:
Drivers coming from Adeniyi Jones should use Aromire Street and continue through to Allen Junction.
Those coming from Allen are advised to link Aromire Street, continue via Ladipo Oluwole, and head through Guinness.
Motorists approaching from Akilo Road may divert to Wemco Road, proceed to Lateef Jakande, or head toward Omole.
The public is urged to plan their movements ahead of time and avoid the ACME Road axis unless necessary. The statement emphasized that this proactive step is designed to ensure the primaries are conducted smoothly while limiting disruptions to traffic flow.
Officials from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority will be stationed along key routes to assist with traffic control and public safety. The government has called on motorists to comply with the traffic advisory and cooperate with officials to help maintain order during the event.
