Grammy-nominated Nigerian singer, Davido, has boldly proclaimed himself the undisputed king of Afrobeats, asserting that while other artists may dominate in their own musical fields, none can rival his expertise and impact within the genre.

During an appearance on The Ebro Show on Apple Music, the singer emphasized his commitment to Afrobeats, explaining that his distinctive sound is why he consistently weaves the genre into his collaborations with international artists across different musical styles.

“One of the good things that American artists like about collaborating with me is that, it’s either we meet in the middle or you just do it my way [Afrobeats].”

While acknowledging the talents of artists like Gunna, Young Thug, and Chris Brown in their respective genres, Davido maintained that his dominance in Afrobeats remains unmatched.

“That’s how it is. Like I said, I can’t sing trap better than Gunna or Young Thug, or sing R&B better than Chris Brown, but nobody can sing Afrobeats like me,” Davido stated.

He also revealed that his creative chemistry with Chris Brown has been particularly fruitful, leading to a substantial body of unreleased material.

“We could put out two albums right now,” he said, jokingly referencing the volume of songs he and Brown have recorded together.
