Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has suspended the Emir of Daware, Alhaji Hassan Ja’afaru, over allegations of corruption, poor leadership, and security breaches.

The suspension, which will last indefinitely, was announced in a letter dated April 25, 2025. The letter was signed by the Permanent Secretary of Chieftaincy Affairs, Adama Mamman, and made available to newsmen.

The letter stated, “Following a series of complaints made against you for maladministration, corruption, breach of security, confiscation of farmlands, and creating a vacuum that has led to all traditional issues remaining unattended, as a result of your non-staying in your domain, I am therefore directed by the Executive Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri, to suspend you from office indefinitely.”

Ja’afaru, who was formerly the district head of Daware in Fufore Local Government Area, has been ordered to hand over all government property in his possession to the secretary of the district.

Governor Fintiri has been firm in his stance against corruption. He has often said that his fight against corruption will affect every sector in the state, including the traditional institutions.

The government said further actions regarding the suspended emir will be announced later.
