At least nine people have died in a road accident at Malumfashi town, along the Malumfashi-Kafur Road in Katsina State.
The crash, which happened on Sunday, also left 11 others injured. They were rushed to the hospital for urgent medical treatment.
According to the Katsina State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Aliyu Ma’aji, the accident was caused by speeding, which led to the driver losing control of the vehicle.
Ma’aji explained that the victims were traveling in a Hummer bus carrying 20 passengers when the crash occurred.
He warned motorists to avoid speeding, overloading, and reckless driving, especially during festive periods.
“This is not the first time we are losing lives due to reckless driving. Despite the government’s efforts in building good roads, accidents still happen because of carelessness. Drivers must be more careful,” he said.
The incident has left families mourning as authorities continue to urge road users to obey traffic rules to prevent further tragedies.
