The Edo State Police Command has launched an investigation after a man, identified as Wealth Nnamdi, allegedly killed his lover and her three-year-old daughter in Idiagbon Street, Ovbiogoe Community, Edo State.
According to the Edo State Police spokesperson, Moses Joel Yamu, the tragic incident happened on March 18. Nnamdi was set to marry his lover, popularly known as “Mama Hallelujah”, on March 29 before the incident occurred.
A concerned neighbor reported a bad smell coming from the victim’s room, leading the police to the scene.
“Ekiadolor Division received a report from a concerned neighbor that he was perceiving an offensive odour from his neighbor’s room,” Yamu said in a statement.
When police officers arrived at the house, they found the door locked from outside. After forcing it open, they discovered the decomposing bodies of the woman and her daughter, Miracle.
The police report revealed that the woman had an injury on her head, which appeared to be from a machete cut, while the child was found dead on the bed.
“All fingers pointed at her live-in lover, Wealth Nnamdi, whose wedding with the deceased mother of one was set for March 29, 2025,” Yamu stated.
Nnamdi has been missing since the bodies were found, and police say they are making efforts to track him down.
“The suspect has since gone underground since the discovery, as the command is doing everything possible to ensure his arrest,” the statement added.
The police assured the public that investigations were ongoing and urged anyone with information to assist in finding the suspect.
