Afrobeats star Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, has made history as the first African artist to be featured on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine.
The American publication, known for covering music, politics, and pop culture, announced Rema as the cover star for its April 2025 edition.
Mavin Records, Rema’s record label, celebrated the achievement with a post on Instagram, stating, “Rave Lordé Rema, the Afrobeats Visionary, makes history as *Rolling Stone USA*’s First African Cover Star!”
To mark the occasion, Rema performed at a *Rolling Stone* concert, entertaining fans with some of his biggest hits, including *Dumebi*, *Woman*, and *Calm Down*.
This latest recognition comes shortly after he was also featured on the cover of *Dazed Magazine*, another top international platform.
Rema, who was born in 2000 in Benin City, gained fame in 2019 after signing with Mavin Records. His song *Calm Down*, featuring Selena Gomez, became the most-streamed Afrobeats song in history and was the first African-led track to surpass one billion streams on Spotify.
The song also topped the first official regional streaming chart in the Middle East and North Africa, earning him a Guinness World Record.
In another historic moment, Rema became the first African artiste to perform at the Ballon d’Or ceremony, where he wowed the audience in Paris in 2023.
