The Transmission Company of Nigeria has commenced restoration work on the vandalized underground transmission cable near Millennium Park, Abuja, assuring residents of swift repairs to restore bulk power supply
In a press release issued on Tuesday, TCN stated that engineers, in collaboration with expert cable jointers, are working tirelessly to replace the damaged cable and reconnect it to the transmission network.
The company reiterated its commitment to ensuring stable and reliable electricity transmission, particularly within the Abuja metropolis.
According to TCN, efforts are actively ongoing to restore normal power transmission through the affected line, which serves as a link to its substation.
Once repairs are completed, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company will resume power offtake for distribution to consumers.
“We recognize the critical importance of maintaining a stable and reliable power supply, particularly in the metropolis. TCN remains committed to restoring normal bulk power transmission through the line to its substation to enable AEDC to offtake the same for its customers,”the statement read.
The company acknowledged the inconvenience caused by the outage and appealed for public patience and understanding as the repair process continues.
“We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work diligently to complete the cable replacement and connection that will ensure bulk power restoration through this transmission line.”
This incident highlights the ongoing challenges posed by vandalism in Nigeria’s power sector, which continues to disrupt electricity supply in various parts of the country.
However, TCN has assured that its engineers are working round the clock to address the issue and prevent future occurrences.
