The suspended traditional ruler of Orile Ifo, Oba Abdulsemiu Ogunjobi, has been arraigned before the Ifo Magistrate Court for assault.

Ogunjobi was brought before the court on Tuesday by the Nigeria Police Force on a three-count charge of conspiracy, assault, and conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace.

His arraignment followed a viral video showing him allegedly assaulting one of his chiefs, Arinola Abraham. In the video, Abraham was seen kneeling on the road while a man, said to be Ogunjobi, verbally abused him and cursed his family. The monarch also accused him of conspiracy and threatened to send him to jail.

The video sparked outrage, leading to Ogunjobi’s suspension by the Ogun State Government over what it described as “uncivil conduct.”

The court granted Ogunjobi bail, and the case was adjourned to March 6 for further hearing.
