The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested two suspected burglars and recovered stolen items worth millions of naira.
In a statement released on Thursday in Uyo, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, identified the suspects as Moses Godwill Ndiong and Abraham Udo.
They were apprehended on Monday, January 20, 2025, around 4:00 PM in connection with a burglary at the home of a resident in Okpokpong, Eket Local Government Area.
“Akwa Ibom State Police Command has successfully apprehended two suspects, Moses Godwill Ndiong and Abraham Udo, in connection with a recent burglary incident on January 20, 2025, at approximately 0400 hours,” DSP John stated.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, reportedly acted swiftly upon receiving credible intelligence from a concerned citizen. A team of officers was immediately dispatched to the scene, leading to the arrest of the suspects.
“Upon interrogation, both suspects confessed to their involvement in the burglary,” the statement added.
The stolen items recovered from the suspects include:
– A 65-inch LG Smart TV
– A 42-inch LG LED TV
– A 32-inch LG LED TV
– A 2900 SUMEC Generator
– A set of Sony Home Theatre System
– A Toyota Camry car with registration number KY984EKY
– Six pairs of shoes
– Electrical cables
– Cutter and pliers used in the burglary
DSP John commended the vigilant citizen whose prompt report made the arrests possible. He encouraged other residents to remain watchful and report any suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies promptly.
