AC Milan has announced Sergio Conceicao as the new head coach of its men’s first team, replacing Paulo Fonseca, who was sacked earlier on Monday.

The club revealed Conceicao’s appointment in an official statement: “AC Milan announces that Sergio Paulo Marceneiro da Conceicao has been appointed as the Head Coach of the men’s First Team until 30 June 2026.”

Sergio Conceicao, a 49-year-old Portuguese coach, takes over at a challenging time for the Serie A giants. Milan currently sits in eighth place in the league table, eight points away from securing a Champions League spot.

Conceicao, known for his tactical expertise, expressed his excitement about joining the club. While no personal statement was released immediately, his history as a coach suggests he is ready to take on the challenge of revitalizing Milan’s season.

Before this appointment, Conceicao had been a successful coach with FC Porto, where he gained recognition for his achievements in domestic and European competitions. His experience is expected to bring a fresh approach to the team.

Conceicao’s predecessor, Paulo Fonseca, was dismissed after a string of disappointing results that left Milan struggling to compete for a top-four spot in Serie A. The club has expressed its gratitude to Fonseca but believes new leadership is necessary to achieve its goals.
