Lagos State has officially commenced its much-anticipated 72-hour shopping festival at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan.
The event, which combines commerce, culture, and entertainment, is organized by the Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture in partnership with Chain Reaction Ltd.
Speaking at the opening, the Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Idris Aregbe, highlighted the festival’s role in promoting local businesses and connecting them to global markets.
“The Lagos Shopping Festival will feature over 500 vendors, offering an extensive array of products ranging from fashion and electronics to beauty items, home decor, and gourmet food,” Aregbe said in a statement.
He noted that the festival provides an opportunity for shoppers to discover unique holiday gifts, the latest gadgets, and distinctive fashion items, ensuring there is something for everyone.
Running non-stop for three days, the event is designed to bolster the growth of Lagos State’s fashion and retail sectors while showcasing the craftsmanship of local artisans.
Aregbe explained that the festival aims to bridge the gap between small businesses and larger markets.
“Our goal is not just to promote trade but to elevate local creativity and artistry while giving Lagosians and tourists an unmatched shopping experience,” he stated.
Beyond the shopping opportunities, the festival offers live performances, entertainment, and diverse culinary options. It also serves as a platform to celebrate Lagos State’s rich cultural heritage and vibrant commercial energy.
“This is not merely a shopping event. It’s a celebration of Lagos State’s dynamic culture, creativity, and commerce,” Aregbe added.
