The National Examinations Council has approved more schools in Niger Republic and Equatorial Guinea to write the Senior School Certificate Examination and Basic Education Certificate Examination.
This move, announced in a statement by NECO’s Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Azeez Sani, aims to extend the council’s reach and provide quality education beyond Nigeria.
Sani explained that an accreditation team visited the schools to evaluate their facilities, including classrooms, libraries, laboratories, examination halls, and sports facilities.
“After a thorough evaluation and comprehensive assessment, the schools were granted full SSCE and BECE accreditation status,” the statement said.
The accreditation highlights NECO’s dedication to advancing education within and outside Nigeria. “The accreditation of additional foreign schools is a testament to NECO’s commitment to providing quality education and assessment beyond the shores of Nigeria. With its expanding global presence, NECO is poised to become a leading examination body in Africa, offering opportunities for students worldwide to benefit from its expertise, thus contributing to the advancement of education in Africa and beyond,” Sani added.
In related news, candidates are currently participating in the ongoing NECO SSCE External in Diffa, Niger Republic, at the UNHCR School, which is the first NECO SSCE External Centre outside Nigeria.
NECO examinations are now available in several countries, including Benin Republic, Togo, Côte d’Ivoire, Niger Republic, Equatorial Guinea, and Saudi Arabia.
