The Lagos State Government has recognised 361 public servants for their outstanding dedication and contributions, awarding them long service merit awards for serving the state for 30 years or more.
Among the recipients were 128 men and 233 women, honoured for their selfless service across various sectors.
On Tuesday, at a ceremony held in Alausa, Ikeja, the Head of Service, Bode Agoro, praised the awardees for their role in promoting inclusive development in Lagos.
Agoro highlighted the state’s commitment to equity, participation, accessibility, and empowerment, guiding its approach to fostering economic and social progress for all.
“These public servants have shown unwavering dedication, loyalty, diligence, and resilience over the past 30 years, making them deserving of this recognition,” Agoro said.
He added that the honorees had contributed significantly to critical areas such as education, healthcare, gender equality, infrastructure, technology, and environmental sustainability—key sectors in the state’s inclusive development strategy.
Agoro assured the awardees that the government deeply valued their efforts and encouraged them to continue demonstrating responsibility and commitment to their duties.
He also called on other public servants to emulate their dedication, emphasising the essential role civil servants play in the state’s growth and development.
In his remarks, Agoro expressed pride in the Lagos State Public Service, noting its leadership position among public services in Nigeria.
He urged public servants to embrace new technologies and continue developing their skills, with Lagos State committed to providing an enabling environment for staff welfare and professional growth.
The event also featured a public lecture titled “Breaking Barriers: Public Service Strategies for Inclusive Development.”
In his address, Agoro stressed that public servants are custodians of public trust, tasked with delivering quality services to all citizens without discrimination.
He reiterated the administration’s commitment to social inclusion, gender equality, and youth development, which are goals that are central to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s second-term agenda.
Agoro explained that the state’s developmental strategy, known as “THEMES,” had been revised to “THEMES Plus” to emphasise social inclusion and ensure that every citizen has the opportunity to achieve their full potential.
