A 26-year-old British man has tragically died after falling from a 630ft (192m) bridge in Spain while trying to create content for social media, local authorities have confirmed.

The incident occurred early on Sunday at the Castilla-La Mancha Bridge in Talavera de la Reina, central Spain.

According to reports from *El Mundo*, the man was climbing the bridge with a 24-year-old British friend, intending to film content for social networks. However, the climb ended in tragedy when the man fell from the bridge at around 7:15 a.m. Emergency services quickly arrived but were unable to save him.

Macarena Muñoz, the city’s councillor for citizen security, confirmed the details in a statement: “They had come to Talavera to climb the bridge and create content for social networks, which has resulted in this unfortunate and sad outcome.” She also emphasized that climbing the bridge is strictly prohibited and warned against such dangerous actions. “We have reiterated on many occasions that this cannot be done under any circumstances,” she added.

The Castilla-La Mancha Bridge, located about 120 km southwest of Madrid, is the tallest cable-stayed bridge in Spain, standing above the Tagus River. The structure, which was opened in 2011, has reportedly seen other incidents of people attempting to scale it in the past.

Following the man’s death, local authorities are considering increasing security around the bridge, possibly installing CCTV cameras and restricting access to prevent future accidents.

A spokesperson from the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office said, “We are supporting the family of a British man who has died in Spain and are in contact with the local authorities.”
