President Bola Tinubu will depart Abuja on Wednesday, October 2, for the United Kingdom to begin a two-week annual vacation.

This is part of his yearly leave, during which he plans to take a working vacation and reflect on his administration’s economic reforms.

In a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, it was explained that President Tinubu will use the two-week period as a retreat.

“He will use the two weeks as a working vacation and a retreat to reflect on his administration’s economic reforms,” the statement said. Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria after the leave ends.

Before his departure, the President delivered a speech on Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day, where he announced a 30-day National Youth Conference to include young Nigerians in shaping the country’s future.

“We lead today with the future we wish to bequeath to our children in focus, recognising that we cannot design a future that belongs to them without making them its architects,” Tinubu said in his address. He added, “This conference will be a platform to address the diverse challenges and opportunities confronting our young people, who constitute more than 60 per cent of our population.”

The National Youth Conference aims to tackle key issues affecting young Nigerians, including education, employment, innovation, security, and social justice. Tinubu emphasized that the government would work closely with youth representatives to design the structure of the conference and ensure their voices are heard.

“The government will thoroughly consider and implement the recommendations and outcomes from this forum as we remain resolute in our mission to build a more inclusive, prosperous, and united Nigeria,” Tinubu stated.

In his Independence Day message, Tinubu also acknowledged the resilience of the Nigerian people, emphasizing his administration’s commitment to reforming the nation’s political economy and security to ensure Nigeria’s survival and growth.

He reassured the public that efforts are ongoing to win the fight against bandits and terrorists so that displaced farmers can return to their lands, helping to ease food prices.
