The Federal Government has commenced emergency repairs on a deteriorating 7-kilometer section of the Lagos-Sango-Otta-Abeokuta road, a key route that has suffered from years of neglect.

The announcement was made on Wednesday by Special Adviser on Media to the Minister of Works, Uchenna Orji, in a statement addressing the government’s efforts to tackle infrastructure problems impacting commuters.

“The road has been in poor condition for some time, and the Federal Ministry of Works, in collaboration with the concessionaire, is working to bring relief to the dilapidated sections,” Orji said.

He explained that the repair project is part of a wider ‘Operation Free Our Roads’ initiative, designed to improve the state of federal roadways across Nigeria.

“The Federal Ministry of Works under the watch of His Excellency, Sen. Engr. Nweze David Umahi CON, is committed to providing relief to motorists and commuters on all the federal roads nationwide,” he added.

Residents and motorists have long voiced frustrations over the poor state of the road, which has led to longer travel times and raised safety concerns.

Orji emphasized that with these emergency repairs underway, “the government aims to restore smooth passage for the thousands of commuters who depend on this vital route daily.”
