The performance was a highlight of the event, with notable figures like UBA Chairman Tony Elumelu and Nigeria’s Vice President Kashim Shettima in attendance. Shettima, representing President Bola Tinubu, took the opportunity to emphasize Africa’s growing role on the global stage and called for permanent representation for the continent on the UN Security Council.
During his speech, Shettima said, “Africa must be accorded the respect it deserves in the Security Council. Our continent deserves a place in the permanent members’ category with the same rights and responsibilities as others.”
The event also saw DJ Cuppy, Florence Otedola, making history by hosting an opening session at the UNGA.
Davido had earlier tweeted about his excitement for his first appearance at the UNGA, expressing hope that it would be an interesting experience.
