The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has donated N500 million to help victims of the recent floods in Maiduguri, Borno State.

The donation was made after she sent a delegation to visit the state and express sympathy for the people affected by the flood, which impacted over two million residents.

Representing the First Lady in Maiduguri was Nana Kashim Shettima, wife of the vice president.

The delegation included the wives of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Deputy Senate President, the governors of Lagos and Yobe States, as well as wives of ministers and other presidential aides.

Their first stop was the Shehu of Borno’s palace, where they offered their condolences for the flood damage that affected the palace and nearby areas.

At the Borno State Government House, the delegation was received by Governor Babagana Zulum, members of the National Assembly from Borno State, the Speaker of the State Assembly, and other members of the state’s executive council.

Speaking on behalf of the First Lady, Nana Shettima praised Governor Zulum for his strong leadership during difficult times. She then shared the First Lady’s message of support, saying, “We commiserate with the government and people of Borno State over the devastating flood.”

After her speech, Shettima announced the donation of N500 million on behalf of the First Lady to assist those affected by the floods.

This gesture of support is expected to bring relief to many of the residents impacted by the natural disaster.
