Four die, 20 injured in Osun road accident

Four people lost their lives in multiple road accidents in Ikeji-Arakeji, along the Ilesa/Akure expressway in Osun State, according to the Federal Road Safety Corps.

The accidents, which happened on Thursday, involved three vehicles and left 20 other passengers injured.

A video from the scene showed one of the vehicles on fire, with some injured passengers lying nearby. Among the injured, three were spotted wearing the uniform of the National Youth Service Corps, and many were in blood-soaked clothes.

The FRSC Osun Sector Commander, Mr. Taofeek Sokunbi, confirmed the incident, stating, “The accident involved three vehicles and four people died. Twenty people were injured. Those who died include three female adults and one male adult.”

Sokunbi explained that the crash was caused by excessive speed. “The cause of the accident is excessive speed. The vehicles involved include two buses and one truck. The accident occurred where bumps are located at Ikeji-Arakeji in Osun State,” he said.

He further noted, “The accident happened about three days ago (Thursday). We have cleared the crash.”

Sokunbi also urged drivers to be careful on the roads, emphasizing, “I want to urge drivers to drive carefully on the road because it is overspeeding. The accident was carelessness on the path of the drivers.”
