The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority has sealed four filling stations and two gas stations in Akwa Ibom State.

The action was taken due to the non-renewal of licenses and poor housekeeping practices.

The Coordinator of the NMDPRA in Eket, Mr. Ikechukwu Eseka, disclosed this information to journalists during a routine inspection of petrol stations in Uyo on Friday.

“Some of the filling stations are sealed for non-renewal of licenses and poor housekeeping in the state,” Mr. Eseka stated.

He explained that the sealed stations were located in Uyo, the state capital.

Mr. Eseka also issued a warning to fuel marketers, cautioning them against practices like under-dispensing, hoarding, or diverting petroleum products.

He emphasized that the NMDPRA is conducting regular surveillance to ensure that all facilities meet the required standards.
