A domestic worker, whose identity remains undisclosed, has stirred controversy by allegedly adding rat poison to the family soup following the confiscation of her phone.
In a widely circulated video on social media, the young woman is seen being interviewed, where she admits to tampering with the food when questioned about the motive behind her actions.
Her response, “They seized my phone,” has sparked varied reactions from internet users.
Commenting on the incident, @oluwafunmiajayi on Instagram expressed, “I laugh when people say it’s because you don’t treat them well. May you not encounter such defiance.”
@jummycollections shared a different perspective, stating, “I always believed mistreatment triggers such behavior, until I encountered some who are inherently bad and others who are exceptional.”
Adding to the discussion, @tejiriesigie remarked, “I might be criticized for saying this, but until Nigerians start valuing domestic work as a profession and treating employees fairly, such incidents will persist. Hiring underage individuals to work as maids and nannies concurrently is unacceptable.”
@ari_affordables also reacting also wrote, “May God never make us be victims of unfortunate situations, househelps can be so stressful. Taking care of home, kids and your business isn’t easy as a woman but I took it upon myself to go off them cos my experiences with the is so scary despite been nice to them.”
