Ghanaian social media personality Shatta Bandle, whose real name is Firdaus Iddrisu, has apologized to the Nigerian Economic and Financial Crimes Commission after a video of him spraying Naira at an event went viral.
Shatta Bandle, known for his flashy lifestyle, attended the burial of Nollywood actor John Okafor, also known as Mr. Ibu, during his visit to Nigeria.
In the viral video, Shatta Bandle is seen spraying Naira, which caught the attention of Nigerian authorities.
This act is a violation of Section 21(3) of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act 2007, similar to an incident that previously landed crossdresser Bobrisky in prison.
In a recently released video, Shatta Bandle apologized to the EFCC and Nigerians for his actions.
He explained that he initially started spraying dollars at the event but switched to Naira when he ran out of US currency.
He emphasized that he did not intend to break any rules and expressed his respect for Nigerian laws and the EFCC.
“I didn’t come to Lagos to break any rules. Lagos is my next home. I’m sorry for coming to spray money, it was not my intention. I was spraying dollars and ran out of notes, that was why I sprayed Naira. I’m sorry for my actions. I didn’t mean to break any rule. I want you people to forgive me,” Shatta Bandle said.
Shatta Bandle, who is now back in Ghana, also described Nigeria as his second home and reiterated his respect for the country and its laws.
