The Federal Capital Territory Administration is planning to open the Abuja Business School of Entrepreneurship.
This announcement was made by the Acting Managing Director/CEO of the Abuja Enterprise Agency, Mr. Chudi Ugwuada-Ezirigwe, during an address to outgoing members of the National Youth Service Corps who participated in the first batch of the 2024 Youth Entrepreneurship Programme.
Ugwuada-Ezirigwe said, “The decision to establish the school is part of efforts to enhance the Human Resource Capacity and Entrepreneurial development of the Abuja Enterprise Agency.”
He praised the FCT Administration, under the leadership of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, for its support as the Agency graduated about 50 Youth Corps Members from the first batch of the 2024 YEP. He also commended the participants for successfully completing the training program, which began on March 29, 2024.
The Youth Entrepreneurship Programme aims to build capacity and has graduated over 20,000 Corps Members since 2007. It targets Nigerian youth, including Serving Corps Members , fresh graduates, and unemployed youths.
Ugwuada-Ezirigwe highlighted the importance of entrepreneurship, stating, “Entrepreneurship is the bedrock of the socio-economic development of every nation, and a larger percentage of the drivers of this development are the workforce, which mostly is made up of the youth. Fostering effective entrepreneurial activity among the youth is, therefore, considered a critical development strategy required to integrate them into the labor market and harness their potential to contribute to sustainable economic development.”
