Ogun police arrest two ‘one chance’ robbers
The Ogun State Police Command has apprehended two suspected members of a ‘one chance’ syndicate operating in the state.
In a brief statement released to PUNCH Metro on Wednesday, the command’s Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the arrest of the suspects.
The arrest follows reports of ‘one chance’ syndicates terrorizing various parts of the state, including an incident on April 18 where a PUNCH reporter, Babatunde Titilola, was attacked and robbed by such criminals along the Sagamu end of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
Describing the modus operandi of ‘one chance’ robbers, Babatunde recounted how he and four other passengers fell victim to the criminals who posed as regular commuters.
“We did not suspect they were armed robbers because there were five of them inside the bus,” he said.
According to Odutola, the arrested suspects, identified as Emmanuel Edeki and Tobi David, were apprehended in the Sango Ota area of the state on April 15 based on credible intelligence.
“These suspects will be prosecuted upon the conclusion of the investigation,” she stated.
The ‘one chance’ robbery phenomenon has been a recurring issue in various parts of Nigeria, prompting law enforcement agencies to intensify efforts to apprehend perpetrators.
