The Nigeria Football Federation has officially commenced the quest for a new head coach for the Super Eagles, signaling the beginning of a fresh chapter after Jose Peseiro’s departure from the role.
Peseiro, who guided Nigeria to the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in February, concluded his 22-month tenure as the head coach of the Super Eagles.
Addressing the vacancy, the NFF dispelled speculations about an interim coach, confirming the initiation of the search for Peseiro’s successor. The football body released a statement on Friday, inviting qualified and passionate football coaches to apply for the prestigious role.
“Attention passionate and proven football coaches! The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is looking for a visionary leader to take the helm of our Senior Men’s National Team, the mighty Super Eagles!” declared the NFF on its website.
The eligibility criteria outlined for coaching the three-time African champions include possessing the right qualifications, a winning mentality, elite experience, and a focus on African football.
“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make history with Nigerian football. If you’re a coach who thrives on pressure and dreams of etching your name in footballing lore, we want to hear from you!” encouraged the post.
Interested and qualified applicants have been instructed to submit their resumes to [email protected] before March 12, indicating the urgency in filling the crucial coaching position.
In addition to the search for the Super Eagles head coach, the NFF is concurrently seeking a leader for the U-17 male team, commonly known as the Golden Eaglets. Emphasizing the significance of the role, the NFF expressed that being the Head Coach of the Golden Eaglets is an opportunity to make a lasting impact on the lives of young footballers and contribute to the legacy of Nigerian football.
“Ready to take the next step?” the NFF posed to potential applicants, urging qualified individuals to apply for this influential coaching position that goes beyond just a job but is an opportunity to shape the future of Nigerian football.
