The Commander General of the Kano State Hisbah Board, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, has resigned from his position. The unexpected decision was communicated by the well-known Kano cleric through his Facebook page on Friday.

The commander, recognized for his efforts in upholding morality, particularly among TikTokers, expressed frustration at the challenges faced in fulfilling this responsibility.

The resignation statement, posted from Kaduna on Friday morning, coincided with Sheikh Daurawa’s participation in a retreat organized by the Kano State House of Assembly. The retreat focused on crafting a law mandating medical check-ups for couples before marriage.

Sheikh Daurawa conveyed his apologies to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for the sudden nature of his departure, emphasizing his dedication to the role.

“The decision to resign is a difficult one, but it is necessary for personal and professional reasons. I appreciate the support of the government and the people of Kano State,” Sheikh Daurawa stated in his resignation announcement.

The timing of the resignation has sparked speculation, especially considering Governor Yusuf’s recent expressions of dissatisfaction with the Hisbah Board’s approach to arresting suspects.

The Hisbah Board has been at the center of controversy in recent days over the arrest and trial of a controversial female TikToker in the state, Murja Kunya.
