Troops from the Joint Task Force North West Operation Hadarin Daji have rescued eight kidnap victims at the Bayan Ruwa axis in Zamfara state and killed several armed bandits.

The information officer of Operation Hadarin Daji, Lieutenant Suleiman Omale, shared details of the success in a statement issued in Gusau on Wednesday.

He stated, “In the recent success, the troops rescued 8 kidnap victims unhurt in an ambush operation conducted in the state.”

The operation, part of the ongoing dry season clearance operations in Zamfara state, took place on February 28, 2024. The troops targeted the terrorists’ enclaves at the Bayan Ruwa axis, a presumed crossing point for the terrorists in the state.

During the operation, the troops engaged the terrorists in a heavy gun duel, causing the bandits to flee in disarray and abandon their captives.

Lieutenant Omale highlighted, “Hence the troops’ timely and prompt response led to the rescue of 8 kidnap victims unhurt.”

The gallant troops, after neutralizing scores of terrorists, proceeded to destroy the terrorists’ enclaves and assert control over the area through aggressive and confidence-building patrols.

Lieutenant General Godwin Mutkut, the Commander of Joint Task Force North West Operation Hadarin Daji, expressed commendation for the troops’ unwavering determination and resilience in restoring normalcy to the Northwest.

He urged the public to continue supporting the troops and providing timely information on terrorists’ hideouts for prompt action.
