President Bola Tinubu, along with Governors from the South West and Kogi, are slated to attend the Yoruba security summit set to take place in Ile-Ife, Osun state on Thursday.
The summit, convened by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeoye Enitan Ogunwuso, aims to address the urgent security challenges facing the Southwest region of Nigeria, according to a statement by the Director of Media and Public Affairs to the Ooni of Ife, Otunba Moses Olafare.
Former Nigeria’s Chief Of Army Staff, Gen. Alani Akinrinade, will chair the summit, with host governor Senator Ademola Adeleke and his counterparts from the region expected to be in attendance.
Olafare’s statement outlined, “The Yoruba Security Summit, scheduled for Thursday, February 29th, will convene Oodua traditional rulers from the Southwest region and parts of Kogi and Kwara states in Nigeria. Other attendees will include a diverse array of stakeholders, such as security experts, civil societies, labour union representatives, political leaders, religious leaders, captains of industries, youths, students’ organizations, and Yoruba Self-Determination groups. This inclusive approach aims to facilitate a comprehensive and collaborative strategy to tackle the multifaceted security challenges facing the Yoruba people.
“The summit will be honored by the esteemed presence of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, as the special guest of honor, representing the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
