During the plenary, the Senate went into a closed-door meeting with the service chiefs to discuss the escalating security situation in the country.

Security chiefs present at the meeting included the Chief of Defence Staff, Christopher Musa; the Chief of Army Staff, Taoreed Lagbaja; the Chief of Air Staff, Hassan Abubakar, and the Chief of Naval Staff, Emmanuel Ogalla.

Addressing the meeting, Senate President Akpabio highlighted the necessity of the invitation due to numerous petitions from the lawmakers’ constituents.

Besides security concerns, the lawmakers also expressed worry about Nigeria’s economy, with the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, present in the Senate chamber to address economic issues.
