The Nigerian Communications Commission issued a statement Thursday evening announcing the amicable resolution of the interconnect debt dispute between MTN Nigeria Plc and Globacom Limited.
According to the statement signed by Reuben Mouka, the Director of Public Affairs at NCC, the commission confirmed the withdrawal of the approval for MTN to disconnect Globacom, following the resolution of the dispute.
In the statement, Mouka emphasized the importance of strict adherence to the terms and conditions of licenses, particularly those outlined in interconnection agreements, for all Mobile Network Operators and other licensees within the telecommunications industry.
Mouka further stated, “In order to proactively address and prevent future instances of interconnect indebtedness within the industry, the Commission will be requesting relevant records and regular updates from MNOs, as well as adopting a transparent approach towards industry indebtedness.”
The statement concluded by reaffirming the NCC’s commitment to fostering a stable and compliant telecommunications ecosystem in Nigeria.
