The 29-time Grammy winner, Beyoncé, is set to launch her own hair care line, named Cécred, on February 20.
She made the announcement via Instagram, sharing a video featuring vintage footage from her mother’s salon, Headliners, where Beyoncé had her first job sweeping hair.
In the video, clips of childhood memories blend with scenes of hair care practices like washing, braiding, and silk presses.
The singer captioned the post, “Hair is sacred,” emphasizing the significance of hair in her life.
Though the launch date is approaching, Beyoncé hinted at this venture in May last year, expressing her dream to continue her mother’s legacy in the hair and beauty industry.
Beyoncé’s connection with the beauty industry, especially hair care, has deep roots.
“There is power in community, and I saw that growing up the daughter of a salon owner. I was exposed to so many entrepreneurial women that I admired.
Doctors, business owners, artists, teachers, mothers — they all came through my mom’s salon,” Beyoncé shared with Harper’s Bazaar in 2021.
Beyoncé aims to provide a space for women to feel empowered and share their stories.
While specific details about Cécred’s products are yet to be revealed, a trademark request from the summer of 2022 indicates the company’s intention to produce various items, including hair care preparations, candles, vitamin supplements, electric hair styling tools, combs, hair accessories, and more.
Beyoncé joins other celebrities like Tracee Ellis Ross and Jennifer Aniston, who have previously ventured into the world of hair care with their respective product lines.
