Federal Capital Territory Police on Sunday announced that its operatives, in collaboration with the Nigerian Army, have rescued Nabeeha Al-kadriyar’s five sisters and other kidnap victims from the Kajuru forest in Kaduna State.
Nabeeha Al-kadriyar and her five sisters were among those abducted in Zuma 1 Area of Bwari Area Council, the nation’s capital, on January 2, 2024.
The kidnappers killed four of the abductees near Ushafa in Bwari Area Council over a delay in ransom payment.
The FCT Police Commissioner, Haruna Garba, revealed in a statement, “The FCT Police has rescued the victims and reunited them with their families. The operatives successfully rescued the victims around Kajuru forest in Kaduna state at about 11:30 pm on Saturday, 20th January 2024.”
The police statement expressed gratitude to the Inspector General of Police, IGP Olukayode Egbetokun, for deploying the newly commissioned Special Intervention Squad, enhancing the security architecture and building public confidence. Commissioner of Police Haruna G. Garba reiterated the commitment to maintaining peace and robust security deployment in the area and across the territory.
However, the FCT Police Command refuted reports of a kidnapping incident at River Park estate in the nation’s capital.
The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, quoted Commissioner Haruna Garba, stating, “Contrary to reports, nobody was kidnapped in River Park Estate. One Nnandi Agu faked his own kidnap in an attempt to defraud his brother within the said Estate. The suspect is currently in police custody undergoing interrogation.”
