Lagos court remands man for defiling neighbour’s daughter
An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Monday remanded a resident of No. 32, Ishola Yusuf St., Iloro, Agege, Lagos State, Musa Usman, in the Kirikiri Correctional Centre for allegedly defiling his neighbour’s 10-year-old daughter.
Chief Magistrate Ejiro Kubeinje, who presided over the case, did not take the plea of the defendant.
Instead, she ordered that the case file be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions for advice.
The prosecutor, DSP Kehinde Ajayi, informed the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offence in December 2023 at his residence.
Ajayi alleged that the defendant defiled the little girl (whose name is withheld) by engaging in unlawful sexual intercourse with her.
The prosecutor stated that the offence violates Section 137 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
If convicted, the defendant could face life imprisonment as stipulated in the criminal code.
The case has been adjourned the case until February 6, pending the advice of the DPP.
