Family of eight dies in Imo car crash
A family of eight lost their lives in a tragic motor accident that occurred at the Amanwozuzu junction in the Ikeduru local government area of Imo State.
The incident unfolded around 3 pm on Friday, December 29, as the family was heading home in a Sienna car to celebrate the New Year.
The victims, comprising the father, mother, and their children, met their untimely demise when their Sienna car collided with a stationary truck loaded with rods.
The deceased family members were subsequently deposited at a morgue by the police from the Ikeduru local government area police division.
The Divisional Police Officer in charge of the Ikeduru LGA, Chief Superintendent of Police Lucky Ahiole, expressed the harrowing nature of the accident, stating, “It is horrifying. Eight died, and we have taken them to a morgue. We had to break the Sienna vehicle to bring out the dead bodies. The rod pierced their eyes and bodies, and even the children died.”
While providing initial details about the accident, Ahiole revealed that the stationary truck was parked at the roadside when the Sienna vehicle driver collided with it.
