Christmas: Fatigued driver survives horrific crash after sleeping on wheel
A driver miraculously walked away unscathed from a severe car crash near Ashton-under-Lyne, UK described by authorities as a “Christmas miracle,” as reported by Mirror.
The incident occurred around 6 am when the driver, fatigued from a grueling 12-hour shift, dozed off at the wheel, causing the vehicle to veer off the M60 motorway.
Police shared dramatic images of the extensively damaged car, emphasizing the fortunate outcome for the driver who was swiftly transported to the hospital.
Remarkably, despite the severity of the wreckage, the driver sustained only minor injuries, prompting expressions of astonishment from onlookers.
The North West Motorway Police, recounting the incident, conveyed a crucial message, stating, “This is the aftermath of an RTC at 6AM this morning on the M60 near junction 23, driver just finished a 12 hour shift and fell asleep at the wheel, thankfully not serious injuries but likely to remain in hospital today. Please take a break if feeling tired.”
Acknowledging the potential severity of such incidents, individuals commended the emergency responders for their swift action and underscored the importance of making responsible decisions behind the wheel.
Mirror reported that one eye witness stated “That looks horrendous, good news wasn’t more serious hope they’re ok. Wish we did something to discourage these kind of shifts.”
