Sanwo-Olu advocates education policy focused on self-reliant graduates
The Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, emphasized the need to overhaul the nation’s education policy to prioritize the production of graduates equipped for employment opportunities.
Speaking at the opening of the 67th National Council on Education meeting held in Lagos, the governor urged stakeholders in the education sector to collaborate in ensuring the creation of self-reliant youths through the educational system.
Represented by the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Jamiu Alli-Balogun, Sanwo-Olu expressed the urgency for repositioning the education policy.
He stated, “It has become expedient to reposition the education policy by making and implementing a strategy to deliver graduate students who will blend with the labour market demands.”
The theme of the NCE meeting, ‘Addressing the challenges of policy implementation: A panacea for the achievement of Education 2030 Agenda,’ provided an opportunity for collaborative efforts to enhance teaching and learning quality.
Sanwo-Olu highlighted the importance of refining educational models and providing lasting solutions to policy formulation challenges in the education sector.
