Renowned figures in the Nigerian entertainment industry, including veteran actor Kanayo O Kanayo, reggae musician Orits Wiliki, and vocalist Yinka Davies, were recognized and honored at the Global Affairs Magazine Award on Saturday for their outstanding contributions to the growth of entertainment in Nigeria.

Arise News’ Rufai Oseni received an award of excellence as the ‘Most Courageous Television Host’ of the year. Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, was recognized as the best politician of the year 2023, and popular comedian Koffi Nuel received an award of excellence for his service to humanity.

In addition to these, Dr. Daniel Olukoya, the Founder of the Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries, was presented with a lifetime achievement award for his dedicated service to humanity.

The theme for the award celebration was “A Channel of Hope Where There is Despair.”

Regina Robinson, the Convener of GAMA, explained during the award presentation that the accolades were designed to celebrate individuals and organizations that have selflessly impacted others positively, especially in areas such as health, support for the less privileged, physically challenged individuals, and children with special needs.

“The award celebrates individuals and bodies who have over the years supported life-changing causes,” said Regina Robinson. “GAMA remains a platform for showcasing the brighter side of a perceived unattractive world.”

Dr. Bala Abraham, Chairman of Global Affairs Magazine, who coordinated the launch of GAM Foundation, pledged to address the needs of the underprivileged in society.

Other recipients of the awards included entrepreneurs Dr. Akintoye Akindele and Dr. Segun Musa, as well as Pastor Wale Adefarasin, Senior Pastor of Guiding Light Assembly Church, Princess Ebuwa Iguehon, and Dr. John Ejezie, who were recognized for their outstanding service to humanity.

Expressing their appreciation, comedian Koffi Nuel said, “This is for God, my family, and everyone in my team, also to my clients who keep paying for my services in the face of hopelessness.”

Reggae artist Orits Wiliki expressed gratitude, saying, “I like to appreciate the organizers of the award because it is not in our tradition to appreciate people when they are alive, but this is coming while we are still alive. I dedicate this to the last born in my family, Mrs. Becky; we have weathered the storm together over the years.”
