Lagos arrests managers for unsealing restaurant
The Lagos State Government has arrested managers of Kingfisher restaurant in Lekki for ignoring the government’s order to close down their establishment.
Two managers were arrested for breaking the government seal placed on the restaurant and resuming full operations.
This development was revealed in a statement from the Senior Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on New Media, Jubril Gawat, on Monday.
According to Gawat, the Commissioner for the Environment, Tokunbo Wahab, and the General Manager of the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency, Tunde Ajayi, discovered the violation during a routine check of sealed facilities in the area on Sunday night.
Gawat said the individuals responsible for this breach would be charged in court and face the legal consequences of their actions.
“The governor’s monitoring team provided security backup, and two managers were arrested at about 12:30 a.m. with the help of the Chief Security Officer to the Governor. They will be charged to court today and face the maximum consequence of their actions,” Gawat stated.
Previously, the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency had sealed off several entertainment centers in Lekki Phase 1 for repeated violations of environmental regulations.
The affected establishments included Red Bar, Kingfisher, Sea Lounge, HOV Lounge, Circa, Bolivar, and Bay Lounge.
