The Special Military Task Force, known as Operation Safe Haven, has conducted a successful operation resulting in the arrest of 13 suspects involved in various criminal activities, including kidnapping, banditry, rustling, and more.
The operation, which took place between October 2 and October 9, covered areas in Plateau, Kaduna, and Bauchi states.
Captain James Oya, the Media Officer of OPSH, announced the operation’s success in a statement released in Jos.
He disclosed that in addition to the arrests, the troops also recovered 279 cows and seized illegal arms and ammunition.
Oya further explained that the suspects were apprehended in communities within the task force’s areas of responsibility.
He stated, “Between October 2 and October 9, our troops arrested 13 criminal suspects in connection with kidnapping, prison break, peddling illicit drugs, and rustling. We also recovered illegal arms and ammunition.”
The troops also recovered a total of 279 cows and six sheep, addressing issues related to the destruction of crops on farmlands across Bokkos, Mangu, Riyom, and Zango Kataf Local Government Areas in Plateau and Kaduna states.
During the same period, OPSH thwarted attempts by gunmen to attack Washina and Razak communities in Mangu and Barkin Ladi Local Government Areas of Plateau.
Captain Oya used the opportunity to call on residents in the area to support the task force’s efforts in curbing crime and criminality.
He assured the residents that OPSH remains committed to ensuring the safety of law-abiding citizens and their property.
