A retired Las Vegas Metro Police Detective, Clifford Mugg, has testified before a grand jury, suggesting a possible connection between the murders of rapper Tupac Shakur in 1996 and fellow rapper Biggie Smalls in 1997.

Mugg’s testimony came after the recent arrest of Duane “Keefe D” Davis, who was charged with Tupac’s murder.

Mugg, who was one of the investigators in the Tupac case, revealed that people “associated with both murders were involved,” indicating that the “theory was accurate that they were related.”

However, he did not provide details about the theory.

When questioned about whether the same individuals were responsible for both murders, Mugg clarified, “That’s correct,” implying that there were different assailants in each attack, thereby giving Davis a pass on the Biggie murder.

Prosecutor Marc DiGiacomo inquired about Davis’s motivation for speaking openly about his alleged involvement in Tupac’s murder.

Mugg suggested that Davis’s primary motive was financial gain, stating, “The only reason that I can see now that he is doing all of these interviews is monetary gain.”

Davis had been vocal about his supposed role in the shooting death of Tupac Shakur for years, claiming he was in the front seat of a white Cadillac when the fatal shots were fired.

Shakur succumbed to his injuries six days after being shot four times in September 1996 in Las Vegas. Biggie Smalls, whose real name was Christopher Wallace, was also killed in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles in March 1997.
