Police arrest 20-year-old for N40k PoS fraud
The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 20-year-old man, Segun Gabriel, for allegedly defrauding a POS operator in the state.
On October 5, Gabriel transacted the sum of N40,000 with the victim using a fake inter-bank transfer.
The POS operator did not notice the loss until the next day, when Gabriel returned to transact the sum of N35,000.
The victim spotted Gabriel under a bridge in Akute and raised an alarm. Passersby assisted her in arresting Gabriel, who is now in police custody.
Gabriel is described as “a rogue and a vagabond who specializes in transferring money out of POS accounts using fake alert.”
He is now detained atthe Ajuwon Divisional Police headquarters in the Ifo Local Government Area where he is currently giving information to the police on how to arrest his accomplices.
The police spokesperson advised POS operators to be vigilant and to report any suspicious transactions to the police.
