Yobe launches polio immunization campaign for over one million children
The Yobe State government has launched a four-day immunization campaign to vaccinate 1.1 million children against polio and other diseases.
This initiative covers all 17 local government areas in the state and is part of a polio outbreak response coordinated by the Ministry of Health, the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, and the state government as reported on Daily Trust.
Dr. Muhammad Abdullahi Jawa, the Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Health, underscored the significance of protecting the lives and futures of children under five during the campaign’s inauguration in Damaturu.
He also expressed the state government’s dedication to collaborating with healthcare partners to eradicate polio through sustained efforts.\
Dr. Nuhu Ningi, the State Coordinator of the World Health Organization, reaffirmed WHO’s commitment to fighting deadly diseases in Yobe State and highlighted the importance of joint efforts in this mission.
