A man has tragically lost his life, and another has been injured during a bull-running festival in eastern Spain. The incident occurred in the town of Pobla de Farnals in the Valencia region on Saturday.

The 61-year-old man was gored in the side by a bull during the event. Despite undergoing emergency surgery, he sadly succumbed to his injuries and passed away on Sunday.

His 63-year-old friend also suffered an attack by the same bull, resulting in injuries to both legs. He is currently in a stable condition in the hospital.

Bull-running festivals in Spain often lead to deaths and injuries, but they remain a popular tradition with hundreds of such events taking place across the country each year.

In these festivals, bulls are released onto city streets, and participants run ahead of them.

Animal rights groups have voiced concerns about the dangers posed to both the public and the animals involved in these events.

Nevertheless, the festivals continue to draw crowds and contribute significantly to the local economy.

A 2019 study revealed that the bull-running season provides a substantial economic boost to Valencia, creating over 3,000 jobs and generating €300 million in revenue through nearly 10,000 events annually.
