Ondo deputy governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has denied signing a pre-resignation letter.
In a statement issued on Friday, Aiyedatiwa said he is committed to serving his full term as deputy governor.
“I took an oath the day I was sworn in along with Mr. Governor on February 24th, 2021 to protect the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on a four-year mandate which terminates on February 23rd, 2025, remain loyal to my Principal and stand by the oath taken with the Bible to run the full cycle of the four-year tenure with Mr. Governor,” he said.
Aiyedatiwa urged the people of Ondo State and the general public to disregard any rumors of his resignation.
The rumors of Aiyedatiwa’s resignation come after the Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, dismissed all media aides attached to the deputy governor earlier in the week.
The dismissal of the media aides has sparked speculation about a rift between Akeredolu and Aiyedatiwa. However, Aiyedatiwa has denied any problem between him and the governor.
“I remain committed to working with Mr. Governor to deliver on our electoral promises to the people of Ondo State,” he said.
