The Eko Electricity Distribution Company has assured its customers of its readiness to begin a mass metering initiative for prepaid meters across its service network.
The company’s Chief Executive Officer, Tinuade Sanda, gave the assurance during a customer engagement forum in Lagos on Thursday.
She said that EKEDC was ready to install over 50,000 prepaid meters before the end of the year.
Sanda also addressed the recently announced 40% increase in meter prices.
According to her, customers had supported the price increase, as it reflected the country’s current economic situation. She noted that the company had not been able to meter customers recently, but with the new price, they would start rolling out meters promptly.
“It is obvious that the customers are happy based on their responses at today’s customer consultative forum,” she added.
