Fayose pleased with Gabon coup against ousted Bongo
Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose expressed his satisfaction with the recent developments in Gabon, where the military seized power.
During an exclusive interview on Channels Television’s Hard Copy, Fayose, while emphasizing his disapproval of military involvement in politics, attributed the wave of coups across Africa to prolonged leadership.
He stated, “I am very happy with what happened in Gabon, I don’t like military incursions in politics.”
The military ousted President Ali Bongo, who had been in power for 14 years, shortly after declaring his victory in Saturday’s elections.
Fayose, however, asserted that such a situation is unlikely to occur in Nigeria, despite its democratic challenges.
He pointed out, “You can’t spend more than a particular number of years but don’t compare it with Nigeria. I’m not saying anything cannot happen – no coup.”
