Cristiano Ronaldo returned to Old Trafford with a bang by scoring twice on his second Manchester United debut against Newcastle United.
The 36-year-old started for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men who struggled to break the visitor’s defence.
Ronaldo however broke the deadlock with a tap in at the death (45+2′) after Mason Greenwood’s shot was fumbled by the goalkeeper.
Solskjaer’s men went into the break with a goal ahead.
He returned in the second half with another goal to inspire a rejuvenated United side after Newcastle pulled one back.
Swashbuckling Bruno Fernandes and second half sub, Jesse Lingard added the third and fourth goals respectively.
More to come…
