Romelu Lukaku was on target at the Emirates on his second Chelsea debut as the Blues sank their bitter rivals, Arsenal on Sunday evening.

The Belgian who returned to the club for £97.5m fee seven years after departing grabbed the opener fifteen minutes into the game after being teed up by Recce James.

Lukaku was then influential twenty-minutes later after his dummy allowed Mason Mount to tee up James for Chelsea’s second goal.

Tuchel’s side take the 2-0 win to the top of the Premier League summit ahead of Liverpool on goal difference.

Lukaku almost made it 3-0 in the second half but his header was brilliantly pushed to the woodwork by Bernd Leno.

Speaking after the game, Tuchel said he “was impressed with the result at half-time” but he admitted that his team “could have played better.

“We were not as sharp as we can be.

“We digest a long week as we gave them a big load with players coming in late. From time to time there were heavy legs and sloppy in passing.

“But we overcame the difficult moments with quality and luck. We controlled the match in the second half. Still room to improve.”

Chelsea continue their Premier League campaign next Saturday against 2020 champions Liverpool.
