Veteran Juju musician, Ebenezer Remilekun Aremu Olasupo Obey-Fabiyi, popularly known as Ebenezer Obey, is overwhelmed with excitement ahead of his birthday.
The ‘Ori Mi Ko Ni Buru’ singer fondly called Chief Commander veteran, who turns 80 on April 3, said the road to his next chapter has already begun.
Sharing an adorable photo of himself, the 78-year-old in an Instagram post on Tuesday said; “Road to chapter 80 begins now.”
Ebenezer Obey began his professional career in the mid-1950s after moving to Lagos. He was trained by the late Fatai Rolling Dollar.
He formed a band called The International Brothers in 1964, playing highlife–juju fusion.
With more than five decades of active singing, the Egba-born singer is internationally recognised for evolving a unique juju sound from highlife music.
Some of his popular songs include ‘Olomi Gbo Temi’, ‘The horse, the man, and the Son’ and ‘Iba Foluwa’.
